Spring of 2013 Round of Congrats!

Chappell Lab Group 4Congratulations to lab members Amber Heckelman, James Moore, Michael Lege, and Jude Wait, and lab alumnae Kat Pang and Chelsea Gwinn!

Amber has racked up accomplishments recently, winning a Natural Sciences Graduate Student Summer Fellowship and a Graduate Student Professional Development Grant from the WSUV College of Arts and Sciences, and a Foley Graduate Summer Fellowship from the WSU Foley Institute for Public Policy & Public Service. She is also part of the first-prize Global Case Competition Team. And Amber has further possible, even, some more, good news on the way (stay tuned)!

James also received a Graduate Student Professional Development Grant to support his work with Urban Gardeners, Food Security, and Biodiversity, is completing his year as an NSF GK-12 Fellow, and will be going to Peru for Ant Course this summer!

Jude is part of a team led by her committee member, Prof. Marcy Ostrom, that was awarded a BioAg grant for our project Agroecological assessment of farming in the rural-urban interface: Building resilient regional food systems (MJC, committee chair, and Profs. Lynne Carpenter-Boggs and Jessica Goldberger, committee members, are co-PIs).

Michael has been selected as a 2013 U.S. Borlaug Fellow in Global Food Security to support his on-going research in Uganda. (See a write-up about it from WSU’s College of Agricultural, Human and Natural Resource Sciences here!)

ChelseaAnd lab alumnae Kat Pang and Chelsea Gwinn recently graduated with their B.S.’s in Biology! And Kat has been accepted to Veterinary School and will be moving house soon to start this fall!
